Yes We Have No Bananas

Yes We Have No Bananas
We Have No Bananas Today

A quick post to say I'm still here and sorry for my absence.. and a thank you to those kind souls who have been emailing and enquiring about my whereabouts.. You'll be pleased to know I am many many miles away from the devastation caused by Cyclone Yasi as it crossed Australian shores in Far North Queensland.. 2011 is only a few weeks old yet this year our poor Queensland neighbours have suffered devastating floods, a perfect storm the size of North America [so I'm told] and now a Banana famine. Yes Cyclone Yasi made sure of that by wiping out 90% of Australia's Banana and Sugar Cane crops... So 'Yes We Have No Bananas'. Mind you the Banana and Sugar Cane thing is not going to bother me too much as they are 'No No Foods' on my 'must only eat boring no sugar no carb insulin resistance diet'! However I'm sure there will be many an Australian out there lamenting the loss of the Great Australian Banana.

So apologies for my absence.. I've had my own little mini disasters to contend with One after the other in the last few weeks, which of course in no way compares to the problems in Queensland, yet have been keeping my time fully occupied and away from my blog and away from all of your lovely blog posts!! So just like Dexter [that's what I named the little guy above].. I'm Sorry!! and hope to get back in the swing of things soon. I have been honoured of late with a few awards from terrific bloggers I'd like to acknowledge.. In fact I am so lax I have a few from last year which also need to be acknowledged .. So Dexter and I are going to waddle off.. put our noses [or beaks] to the grind stone.. sort out things this end.. and get back into the swing of blogging.

So there you have it..
No I haven't been giving you all the 'Bum's Rush'..

Just stuck in my own personal 'Bermuda Triangle of Stupid Annoying Stuff'. Seems to be a package deal with this place I moved to recently.. So I'm getting all Zen like.. downsizing and organizing and preparing for opportunity to come knocking.

By the way.. Say hello to Willy [Willy Wagtail] He IS giving you the 'Bum's Rush' and was visiting me daily until the Bermuda Triangle hit.. Although I saw him again yesterday so here's hoping things are now on the upswing. Bottom's Up!!!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend...
Full of sunshine, happiness and no disasters of any pedigree

Julie b

Lovely to see you back with your delightful photos of Dexter and Willy! One 'nana grower said that he'd have another crop within 6 months...I admire the Queeny grit! I was greeted by a Willy Wagtail in the courtyard this morning, cheekily flitting about.

I hope all of your problems are resolved soon. You do sound upbeat though...maybe it's the comfort of having Dexter and Willy around for company!

Take care, Julie!

Oh dearest, I was truly worried about you for I do not know your "coordinates"! Your photography and wit are as intact and beautiful as ever, and let's face it, small disasters, and great ones as well, can shape our ART, and you have a wide range of styles and every one of them is keen and beyond the expected. Many cheers to you and I hope that you will "see the sun" again soon, rather than THE MOON, i.e., the little bottoms of birds! Sometimes it seems that is all we are given some days...a view of the back end of something!!!! Teeeheee...

MUCH LOVE, Anita

Julie,
So glad you surfaced!!! I'm so relieved...at least for the fact that you surfaced but sorry to hear you're being overwhelmed by personal icks!! We've been watching the horrendous treatment of Australia by the powers-that-be but I was reasonably sure you were safe on the other side. :)
We'll be here when you get back, dear one!

It looks like 2011 started off on a bad note for quite a lot of people. I had some problems on my end too. Nothing major but it has been a bit stressful. Hopeful the rest of the year will be nicer to all of us.

I always love your pictures. I'm sorry there are little disasters in your life, I understand...we've had a few bumps lately here too. I guess that is what keeps life interesting. I hope you find your way to a peaceful day soon!

107? Oh my goodness. I had to write and tell you it is freezing here. It is so fun to talk to friends all over the world.
What kind of camera and lens do you use? Your photographs are amazing.
Just had to stop back by when I saw how hot it was there.

Dearest Julie, I love your title. I admit I have been thinking of you a lot of late and missing your musings on all things, but again am so slack that I am not one of those lovely people that have emailed etc...yes I am a slacker. So sorry to hear you have been having sagas I did worry about this for you. I wish I could help in some way. ( I have been known to offer my friends help in burying bodies if needed. You will be pleased to know no one has taken me up on this yet ha ha but still I extend this same offer to you my friend) I love your willy wagtail, he is sooo cute and they are always so happy and cheerful, I wonder if they have stress ? Hope things get better for you soon...repeat my mantra..."this too shall pass" it is surprising how a mantra can help I have found. Thinking of you from one slacker to another ha xxxx Katherine PS I wish we lived closer as I do have some gossip which I would love to chat to you about ha...yes gossip oooh...and you know what they say about that..."I never repeat gossip, so listen carefully ha" Will email you soon xxx

JULIE DEAREST! You are having a HOT SUMMER! Oh, I really do prefer this winter, I really do!!! But it is so kind of you to come by to comment, and yes, my husband is a wonderful friend, love, supporter of my interests and is so very involved in what I LOVE....you are so sweet to mention him! Oh, I am so tired. I was hoping to finish my new post, but I simply cannot continue! ON to bed and I will try again tomorrow! So glad to know that you are safe. I hope your loved ones are also in safe spots and that those who have lost so much will be cared for soon. Thinking of all of you, Anita

the good news is you are out of the danger zone {of sorts}

as far as complications in our lives...
you think it might be because of all those 'MOON' shots you were posting.
were you messing with the alignment of the stars as well?
cuz....things are funky over here too.

All the best to you Julie in these troubling times. Love love your birdie pics. I just finally got into photo manipulation via Aperture. Am loving the creativity of it, even if it is a bit hard. I’m learning by looking at your photos cause I wanna be just like you when I grow up...I could never come even a smidgen close to what you do..fabulous!

Well let me tell you George would die without bananas....he's like a monkey. So sad for the people of Queensland. Nature is a B**** sometimes and has no sympathy and after all they went thru last time.

Love your little Dexter....looking down at his own feet!

Hi Julie, it's been a crap year all around but I do hope that things start looking up for you personally. I am so sad about the bananas and farmers' crisis and will rather pay $10 a kilo to support whatever local produce is left rather than cheaper imports. Take care of yourself. x

I love this analogy Julie, of being stuck in your own Bermuda Triangle. Yes, i am feeling a little like that too. Take care up there!

Oh my dear, sweet friend, I hate that you're going through so much turmoil in your life, but you know that I can so much relate. I'm still waiting for 2011 to kick in for both of us.

Everyone is posting pics of the snow here and I keep telling them to stay warm, then you comment that it's 107°F there! I love warm weather, but that's too hot! Stay cool, but then you already are in spirit.

I adore that pic of Dexter, it expresses so much of how I'm feeling these days, so we both need to spread our wings and soar, and by that I mean you and I, not Dexter, lol. Well, he should too!

Hugs, hugs and more hugs

Julie - I LOVE the new look blog. IS it new? How long have I been away?? AM I suffering from amnesia?? I have missed you. Did you get my emails? Probably not!
Get OUT of that Bermuda triangle as soon as you can. I can recommend Noosa :)

Much love
PS - went to the Cité de l'Espace with the Messmonsters. They told us that the only animal that was bothered in space was the spider - the webs became 3 dimensional! So you can tell Walt - HE'LL LOVE IT!
