A Very Merry Christmas To All
Here in this great southern land one only needs to look up at the vast night sky to know they are home. For there they will find, a constant reminder, shining clear and strong, leading the way;
The Southern Cross
Like all things ubiquitous in our lives we easily forget she is there. Then something will remind us to search her out and feel the comfort of her familiar presence. A compass to lead us home. She dances across the night sky flirting with the moon when he deems to make a showing, and when not, she is content to float in languid repose, chattering with the her sisters and brothers who pepper stardust upon the night. At Christmastime she becomes a little magical, two sturdy pointers steer your gaze to the splendour of her cross and you wonder, is this the stars the wise men followed?
Reality Bites
Back to reality I'd like to wish you all a joyous festive season and hope you are enjoying a little down time to refuel the body and soul. Apologies for my constant absence this year. I've just finished up a marathon stint of 7 day weeks, 12 and 16 hour days and I ask myself 'surely there is an easier way to beats one's head against a brick wall?' It been one heck of a ride I have no wish to revisit. As the Queen would say, it was 'Annus Horribilis' and I will be glad to see the back of it.
Many a night I've found myself searching the sky and looking for a sign that change is on it's way. But what I have found are the familiar sights of constellations older than Methuselah shining back at me. Although change is what I yearn for, the familiar night sky is somehow soothing and quietens the whirring of my brain so sleep kicks in and the world stops turning for a few short hours before the madness begins again.
When things get tough I tend to knuckle down, shut the windows, lock the doors and ride out the storm. Problem is it makes me very absent in the social world especially here in blogland. Although I've occasionally wandered through your posts, I've been a tad slack at commenting and posting of my own. Thankfully that work pace madness has come to an end and it is time to get back to the land of the living.
So here's hoping for a brighter happier healthier 2014
