Birds flying high, You know how I feel

Sun in the sky, You know how I feel

Reeds driftin' on by, You know how I feel

It's a new dawn, It's a new day

It's a new life For me

And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea, You know how I feel

River running free, You know how I feel

Blossom in the tree, You know how I feel

It's a new dawn, It's a new day

It's a new life For me

And I'm feeling good

Well it's not really a new life but it is a new year and decade, so I'd like to think that gives us all the liberty to think new, feel new and stretch out our wings to fly a little higher, a little further and somewhere different. I know right now I'm happy to not think ahead. That will be upon me soon enough. No planning yet, no setting expectations, just living in the moment and enjoying the relaxation of walks by the sea, sun on my face and salty air in my lungs. A rare opportunity ....

These images I took close to home where the river meets the bay then flows onward into the sea. The area is aptly named 'Sans Souci', which in French means, without a care. So right now that's exactly what I'm doing, living without a care [at least for a little while longer].

... And I'm feeling good ...

My lacksidaisle attitude means I am also slow at getting around to all the blogs.. but I'm progressing. I'm also trying to spend a little less time on the computer right now to allow my body to remember what it is like to not resemble the shape of a chair and that a lap is not meant to be a permanent physical attribute! I'm sure though that I won't be able to keep away.

.

Thank you to everyone who has come back this year for a bit more Ruby Time. I appreciate it more than you know!! Your comments mean the world to me ... like waking in the mornings to find friends have been to visit and left me little gifts!! Thank you sweet friends.

It sounds wonderful Ruby. I know the spot...just beautiful. I am longing for the southern hemisphere right now. We lived on the northern beaches side of Sydney for many years and hope to call it home when we get off the merry go round of life. I love love love Nina Simone...my fav song is..My Baby Just Cares For Me. I like to turn it up loud when I am alone in the car and feel the rhythm! Thanks for the memory! Jeanne :)

Hi Julie

I'm feeling so relaxed and summery just looking at your gorgeous images. It's been raining and foggy in the Highlands all weekend and feels like summer has disappeared! I'm so looking forward to more of your wonderfully unique posts and photos during 2010. I hope your year is full of happiness and good times. Leigh

RubyJulie, you are such a treasure...you make art out of going to the sea. I must go more often (I live but 5 minutes away) to take advantage of my lucky location. Thanks for the minder!

It's good that you're feeling good! And I think you're right about the body not being chair-shaped - I'm increasingly thinking there's too much keyboard in my life, ready to be replaced with good honest idleness and whatever that may bring. Keep walking, keep musing, keep loitering! xxx

Enjoy this time! And the beautiful area in which you live. Enjoy... Enjoy... Soak all the relaxation in. It never lasts. ,-) But grab it, while you can.

Oh Julie I feel fresh after looking at these pictures. I know exactly what you mean by saying body resembling shape of a chair, haha!
And yes this time I am going to wait for the word thingy to load up :)

Ha! I think we are on the same wavelength. I read the words on the first picture and immediately that song started playing in my mind.. then I scrolled down and found you singing along with me! What fun!
I did a blog post a while ago on the same theme - when I just quit my job to set up on my own.

Beautiful images. I found your blog via Signed by Ange. :)

Hello dearest Ruby,

I discovered that myself..., a bit less of computer time is what I need too. And I've always loved the metaphor of a "river running free". It means the effortless flow of life to me, and I want to experience that. I guess "surrender" is my theme for now.

Have a Happy New Year!

Hello darling Julie. This was wonderful to see...trying to imagine warm, salty air. In midst of icy-cold blast here. Apt. is like a fridge. But before logging off to wrap hands around hot teapot, GG & I want to send best best wishes to you in Sans Souci!

Haha, I think all of us [computer addicts], should keep away for a couple of days , just to remind ourselwes, what life use to be, before we had a computer...
Often, when I have other activities during the days, I´m actually relieved over the fact that I didn´t spend one second, thinking about the laptop...=D. But of course, in the end, I can´t keep away any longer...

I´m glad to hear, that you feel good, Julie! Very glad!
I´m happy too. Hoping, that this year will bring me lots of joy...
But I´m not there, yet...
Right now, I live in the moment. Just like you do.

Take care, my dear Julie!!!

Love/
Luiza

I hummed to myself and added music to your lyrics. One of my favs. I am enjoying being in the present also with no pressing plans. But can't figure out what to blog about.

I can see how I am so "show" driven... and I am taking a show break until March....

hummmm...

Love the pictures of the water. Without a care.

Hi Julie! First off,I love these images of yours. They have such a soothing, calmness about them. Second, I love the song and the whole theme of this great post. I do have to imagine it being warm though, because it's winter here. But if I do that I imagine myself walking along that beach without a care in the world with a fresh start to my wonderful life! Thank you! :)

Hi there Julie,
Isn't it funny how we all get this feeling as we enter a New Year, that we need to blow away the cobwebs and start on some new beginnings ? ......and it really makes us feel good. Nina was right. I've been listening to her ever since I was a teenager (which is quite a few years ago now !!!!)
Wonderful photographs, making me rather jealous, as we are in the grip of Winter at the moment. It's freezing in London and is supposed to be the coldest winter in 100 years !! Great. My new beginnings are going to be very cold ones this year!!
Lovely to hear your bright and free and easy outlook on things and long may it continue, Julie. XXXX

Julie, I love these photos, they feel "without a care", "renewed spirit" , etc etc. Have you ever thought of selling your photos, or making them into art ? I think they are all lovely, and you have such a good eye for it. We have snow here so its great to see the sandy beach.Im aquarius , I love the water. the other Julie in Holland :) x

From the moment I read those words I thought gee why do they sound so familar. George would play that song on my playlist over and over again. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I might put my playlist back on just for fun and play only that song.
Still have no computer!!!
On your last post...You don't need to know how to paint.. you do it so beautifully with your pictures....
but please have a go of it anyways!
xo,
Carole
