To The Moon Alice: March 2010

Full Moon - March 1st - Autumn
.

Oh too sad.. it is the first day of Autumn here in Australia and Mother Nature has flicked the switch on summer! Yes that program has finished.. change the channel! I woke this morning to a rainy cold day! A good ten degrees/c cooler than yesterday!! I quite like the soft rainy days. Even a good storm lifts my spirits. All perfect for relaxing and snoozing, but I'm not ready to give up summer yet.
.
The rain may have been brought by the Tsunami Warnings we had yesterday [arising from the sad and devastating earthquake in Chile]. Mind you i slept through it all and didn't realise until Dzintra emailed me. Looking back every full moon in recent months La Bella Luna has brought with her stormy skies, high tides and a bevy of emotions to toy with us humans. Our summer days have been yo-yo-ing between absolute stinkers then quick drops in temp, so maybe she has a bit more left in her.. I sincerely hope so!!
.
Now some of you may wonder what happened to the February Full Moon. Well here in Australia.. there wasn't one. I guess we overindulged with two full moons in January!!! So .. fast forward to March.. and no sign of her lovely face, once again hiding behind the clouds
.
She did however put on her best performance all this past week. Glowing brighter than usual high in the northern skies, she left a tangible presence, playing shadows with the trees and shining a brilliant amber hue as she made her descent towards our friends in the west.
.

My Bella Luna photos today were taken last month. As she seems to be in an intimate two step with the sea at present, I thought I'd show you some of those photos also.

So that's why I love her so!! Miss sign of Virgo that I am (along with Jeanne). Your photos are as beautiful as she is and I'd love to have a big poster taped to my window so I could see it like that every night. Keep right away from those Tsunamis please PLEASE!

I love your moon posts most of all, Julie. Enjoy your early autumn!

Ruby, I guess you can't have the beautiful summer warmth and without the autumn rains. Your full moon pictures are beautiful though. When we have a full moon here the crazies come out, you can just blame it on the moon! Do the people around you change because of your full moon? I actually love a rainy day, I find them really beautiful!
Congrats on your Hockey win!

Hi Julie, your moon pictures are stunning. If I had come across one out of context I would have taken it for a painting - Italian renaissance?! My favourites are To the Moon and Bella Luna. Funnily enough, yesterday evening driving home from the cinema with the children we were all in ecstasy over a beautiful pale yellow full moon trying to get out from behind very dark clouds.

I'm afraid however that it's hard to feel too sorry for you Aussies going into your "autumn". It was zero degrees here again this morning, and the car doors were iced shut, and the horses drinking water was frozen over - so count your blessings!!

Speak to you soon
Sharon

Julie,
Those are absolutely beautiful! Your words and pictures are just the “bomb”. Love them.
We have had an Aussie in our mitts for almost 2 weeks. He left yesterday. Maybe that’s why I feel close to my blogging Australian buddies.

I love today's photos. As you mourn the ending of summer, I'm so excited that today is March...and I know that our frigid temperatures can't last much longer.

Have a great week!

Yes, I agree with Angie.

And now--as I wrote to you, it can't just be over-over, right? (Summer) will be back when I'm on the laptop & can see these properly. The desktop is not cooperating.

ciao, m'dear

You know I now call the moon...Julie's moon!!!
I just can't look at it without thinking of you. Though when I'm looking at it's not at the same time you are. It's still such a great conection we share together.....well I guess with the whole world:)) haha
The editing you do is amazing. The movement in the 2nd pic looks almost like mountains. The colors you get are spectacular.
You should start an etsy shop selling them.
Gosh here you are taking some well deserved time off and I want you to work!!!!

Ok I'm off to work myself!!

Gosh, Julie, I nearly started howling at the computer screen. These images are just amazing. The one with the moon covered with silvery clouds really brings out my inner Werewolf. Oh....stream of consciousness..now thinking about Hugh Jackman....Your photos just give on so many levels! Hope you have a wonderful week and get to cozy up with this crazy weather. Perfect weather for a trip to The Society Inc...if only the kids were on holidays...we'll get there, right? Meredy xo.

I was tossing and turning the other night, and then I found out why, full moon! Back in the Pyrenees it is so bright sometimes you can literally leave the curtains open and moon bathe! Once again love the pictures and I hope you have an Indian summer, now that you have some time off.

What divine images. I saw the moon last night, no clouds hiding it in Melbourne, and I instantly thought of you.!!! I also think, every time I see a full moon, oh so that explains a lot. You know how everyone is so nutty around full moon time.

I can't wait for winter, I love it. And it has been pretty rubbish summer here. That is good I guess

Julie - magical, dreamy, ethereal photos. To visit your blog is like a sweet, dream-like trip to the beyond. Your photos would look so fabulous blown up as huge wall murals. After seeing several in design magazines of the sea, I'm hooked on having one grace my living space on day. Hard to believe Autumn is lapping at your heels. The hours have turned into weeks and months. Hope you are doing real well Julie? Thinking of you and hoping you are treating yourself like the Queen you are!?! xx deb

Julia thanks for the visit. I love your photos of our beloved moon. The goddess Luna is magical. I sometimes wish we could see her every night.
It sounds like it is time to drag out the sweaters and sweatshirts. Don't forget the fuzzy slippers. We are headed slowly into spring here and I am not really looking forward to the hot summers. If it would rain more it would be nicer. Complain when it rains and complain when it doesn't. Hard to please me!

I feel at home here - thank you very much! Now, I looked all over your blog (forgive me if i missed it) do you sell your art work? somewhere?

I look forward to following you. ox Mon

Julie, ou are feeling my pain! Can you believe the change in weather literally overnight? I shall spend the next six months in a state of grim acceptance while I wait for the Spring blossoms to poke their little heads through!

(But I do love a good hot chocolate and a mohair rug so I suppose all is not lost!)

First off, thank you for the congrats! There was silence in the cities and towns as the game was on...it was nearly eery...but as soon as we won - wow! Everyone was hugging, shouting, and so happy! On the other hand, the U.S.A team did wonderfully as well - very very strong game!

These images are gorgeous, Julie! I love the moon as well, but have never seen it portrayed as beautifully as this before...

I wish you a wonderful (and cozy) weekend :)
