Baby It's Cold Outside!

Baby It's Cold Outside

This weekend marks the opening of the ski season in the New South Wales ski slopes.. and I have to say.. I can feel the snow from here!!.. An icy wind has been visiting Sydney this week bringing winter with it... and I have finally succumbed to the winter flu that is making it's rounds...   So I thought I'd photoshop my memories to keep warm!! hehe..

Being out of action.. I am very late to participate in Kim Klassen's texture tuesday.. This week's challenge was to work  'words' or text into our creations.. Well this was right up my alley [so to speak].. Those of you who have been around for a while know that I can't help but plaster 'words' all over images.. and I've been wanting to create something with these tree branches for eons.. So today I finally put myself to the task..  Although unlike me.. I went 'subtle' hehe....  I've also used a layer of Kim Klassen's 'Luminous' [again!]..  Without a doubt my favourite texture of hers, it often make it's way into my creations since it came to visit.  Thanks Kim for creating such beautiful textures!.. As always you can pop over and see the works of others at Kim's blog [here].

These images today are actually re-created re-runs. The vintage shot of my mamma I posted a few weeks back [here] and the spindly sparsely leafed branches are from some city shots I posted last year!! [here] .. I'm quite besotted with both of these photos at present.. The mamma shot I only recently dug up.. It must have been in my possession for at least a decade yet somehow I don't recall ever seeing it..  I'm quite addicted to playing around with the little nuances and acquainting myself with my mamma as she was as a small girl. It is quite strange to unearth a 'new' photo of her..  I'm sure all of you who have vintage family shots will know what I mean.. They are usually so well known to us and have travelled with us through each stage of our own lives... creating their own unique memories.. Yet this one is new ... A new chapter to add to my memories.

Have A Love Weekend Everyone

Once again I must apologize for my lack of visits..
I'm such a slacker lately... Slowly but surely I'll be over your way..

Julie - your bare branches with poetry is splendid !

What a brilliant idea - I'm sure they would make an amazing card or poster :)

Hope you make it up to the snow this year :)

Workin' on the 'love' weekend...but you don't want to hear about it :)
Not really. I'm just working to get out of bed and get dressed for a party on Sunday. I'm exhausted from being part of the work crew that moved my daughter and her family into a new house. And now I have nothing to wear to the afternoon wedding party at the Embassy West.
Arggghghghgh. Now I have to go shopping. Just want to crawl back into bed.

Your mamma was such a cutie! Love the textures - I've signed up for Kim's texture lovin' list and hope to get the chance to play around with them one of these days. But summer has just arrived here, so I'll be spending a lot of time outdoors...
Hope you get to feeling better soon, Julie!
Hugs,
Zuzu

OK, Julie, rub it in friend! It is close to 100 here and has hit that a few times. I LOVE COLD WEATHER!
I told my daughter just this week that we were going to live in Australia in the summer from now on. I wish!!
JEALOUS!
WEll I'm not jealous of your flu. Get well soon. If I could get some chicken stock to you I would.
Love these images as always. So pretty your mother is, and the leaves are beautiful too.
Have a great, COLD weekend, and you get well.

I always like what you do; you're so creative!

It's freezing down here in the mornings but this is our third lovely, sunny day...getting roses and trees pruned!

Hope your bout of flu doesn't hang around too long! Stay warm!

Hi Julie; I had a feeling that was either you or your mother; a face of an angel. I knew exactly what you meant about finding a new to you image of your mom. My dad recently sent me a large package filled with old photos. Some I'd seen over & over again & others new to my eyes. It was such a thrill. You'd think someone had sent me a box full of Prada shoes! Once again your work and artistry amazes me. Stay warm, such a sharp contrast (of course) to our triple digits. Thanks for your great comment on my blog yesterday. How I wish we could rent this place. We want to be done..done & super done. Hoping you feel much better very soon. Not fun to be ill at any time but especially on your weekend. BIG hugs xo Deb

Julie, hello. I just found your blog and it is poetry in the making! The branches and the photo of your Mother, to the photos of the Sea Day, or the ones from Greece! They certainly are a beautiful expose on life!
I look forward to more great inspiration!
Thank so much!

Your Mama looks like an exotic, porcelain doll....could we have ever been so innocent and free of life's worries?...those were simpler times and it echoes in her loveliness...nice work on the textures...truly cool effects!

What I love about you is being able to go from the beach to the ski slopes in one fell swoop! Who better than you to regale us with ocean shots? Snuggle up inside and keep out of the icy wind Julie. Don't forget your echinacea.
Thinking of you from sunny TOulouse and sendig a few rays of warmth your way :)

Precious one, thank you for visiting me! Yes, those golden ballet slippers on that tattered chair do it to me every time..there is something so BEAUTIFUL about worn elegance. Enjoy your days, cold or not...thinking of you friends on the other side of the world, Anita
