Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds

March 2010 - Blue Moon Two
.
.
Once in a Blue Moon we have two full moons in the same month, and once every 19 years or so we have two Blue Moons in the same year. Here in the southern hemisphere Tuesday's full moon was just that. The second for March and a repeat performance of January. Very unusual. I once recounted the memory of such event to a friend who informed me with much certainty that it was impossible. Impossible!!!! So .. two blue moons in three months. A good time to remember that the unlikely, unusual and uncommon do occur and we shouldn't always believe the word 'impossible'!!
.
.
Strangely, this rare occurrence has gone almost entirely unnoticed. No fanfare like the January 31 Blue Moon which had people fluttering about buzzing on her electric energy. Perhaps the old girl is tired from her previous showgirl antics . No.. this time round she is sedate.. almost slipped past without recognition. If it were not for my exceptional powers of deduction [ie I can count] I may have missed her myself. Although I am still yet to see her. She has once again brought a mist of rain and is resting behind her cozy blanket of clouds. Hopefully tonight she will wake up and do her little dance in the heavens above us and comfort us with her nightlight.
.
.
Meanwhile here are some re-masters of January's crop to fill the void.
As you can see I'm still dreaming about an island getaway

post updated to include March 31 photos ..
La Luna finally showed herself larger than life,
a huge yellow saucer in the sky...
sadly my photos don't reflect how beautiful she was

Other Strange Facts You Didn't Want To Know
.
The name Lucia means Light and therefore I think an apt name for the moon.
St Lucia was a 4th century martyr from Syracuse and patron saint to the blind. She was said to have had her eyes gouged out and thus is the patron saint to the blind.
