:A Sentimental Journey: Vintage Inspired Flowers

Postcards From The Heart

Happy Weekend Everyone.. I thought I'd bring you some vintage inspired flowers in the form of postcards. I started these 'postcards' over a month ago but for some reason I have never quite finished them... Some of you noticed one in my last post... so I thought I'd put a few together for you.. They were inspired by the water colour paintings my mum had in her childhood autograph book. Or perhaps from memories of the childhood posies we gathered for our mothers.. Happy little bundles plucked from a neighbour's garden and wilted from their travels in a child's clumsy grasp. Little bundles of love that sit by the kitchen window, smudgy floaty and bruised by the late afternoon sun.

Wild flowers
Inspired by afternoon walks by the sea...
Wild purple flowers that rise up defiantly from their sandy bed ...

Q. V. Markets

A bit of history: The 'Postcard' layer comes from the back of an old family photo... It contains the text Q.V Markets Sydney. I need to do a bit more research on this but suspect it was the Queen Victoria Markets held on the site where the magnificent Queen Victoria Building now stands... Perhaps that is a post for the future ...

Have a lovely weekend everyone..
And once again thank you for your kind comments and visits.
I'll leave you with the words of John Lennon

All You Need Is Love

And a working internet

Gorgeous cards, Julie! Those wild purple flowers remind of the violets that carpet our woods each spring.

These really look like watercolors. Your talent in altering your photos to achieve these looks is an art unto itself.

Huzzah for our Julie. (You know how much some of us love postcards; it borders on mild insanity.)

And thank you for mentioning John. Today gazillions of people are Tweeting (& other things for non-Tweeters) from the ImaginePeace website for John's birthday. It doesn't matter, I'm sure,if if doesn't happens exactly at the time organized. It's a fun site. So I hope everyone who sees this will go & send best wishes. It's for/towards the Peace Tower in Iceland.

You are a truly amazing artist with the camera Julie. These are so beautiful!!! I love how you have altered the photos to make these stunning cards. The graphics are so pretty. I am sitting here enjoying them over and over.

Little bundles of love indeed! I'm sitting here thinking "nothing could be more beautiful" & then I reach the last photo. It's the sand that gets me, I'm sure... & the way the shadows fall across the purslane (that's what we call it here, anyway.) You've created something very, very special in these works, Julie... very, very.

Lovely, lovely, lovely little bundles "held in a child's clasp"...loved those words! Wish I knew how you worked your magic!!!

It's incredible how you achieved this. It's just like a watercolor. I'm sure it wasn't easy to get those results. I noticed the Sidney address right away which makes it that much more special.
Hey I guess you're a pink girl after all.....now don't lie!

These are lovely Julie..you will have to tell me more about the 'postcard layer'. I picked up a beautiful book of old photographs in Jerusalem in which many had been hand painted with a colour tint. They are scenes from the 1800's. I thought of you right away...you would love them!

Best wishes..and thanks for your comment. Always lovely to hear from you:))

Dear Julie,
Such lovely photographs, full of beauty and nostalgia..... and, lovely memories for you, too. Your clever and artistic 'tweaking' has made them look as if they are straight out of the 1920's.

I love the beauty of your Mom's art and how you added your magic to blur the lines with hers!
Gorgeous...maybe you should print them and try to sell them! I love the romance and the idea, but
I love thinking of the child running with the faded bundle and arms of love! xXx
