The Trinket Box
.
.
When I'm old and dotty [not long from now] my newly acquired trinket box will come in handy...
.
Handy to recall where I've stashed all those memories .. Memories that fill my heart with melancholy and joy... Simple little trinkets that represent my stories... Stories of my youth and that of my ancestors.. Memories of family... a mother's love.. a grandfather's courage.. Keepsakes from my travels across this vast globe and reminders of travels closer to home and the sea that beckons me daily with it's salty air.

And jumbled in with all these savoured memories, are vintage purchases holding imaginary adventures to worlds unknown. Imaginary adventures fueling dreams that have become tangled and entwined with my own history. Dreams to be realized and new memories to be stored and revisited when spirits are flagging. Yes this little trinket box will come in handy to store my treasured memories under it's wobbly vintage glass. Memories old and new....
.
.
Where I've been, what I've imagined, and history I wish to create.

... I hope everyone is having a lovely week ...
.
.
I thought I'd break up the week with a little white contribution to White Wednesday hosted by the lovely Kathleen of Faded Charm. This trinket box is my latest purchase and although not vintage.. I like to pretend it is with it's paint splotched glass and white washed timber. I'll be back later in the week with Sea of Love Part II and more trademark blue of The Andaman Sea.... internet permitting.. Until then.. have a fabulous week and thanks for your continued visits and hello to my new followers .. Just like my memories..

... there is joy to be found in old friends and new ...

I love your box AND your trinkets. What a great way to display them. And I agree it is those little things, often of very little value, which can often have the most meaning. Have a lovely week my dear. xoxo
Again the light bulbs leave me wanting more!

you are so lucky to have so many handed down treasures - my ancestors all seemed to delve into moments of madness and destroy things - so many lost mementos

Utterly charming, your words and trinkets!!!!!
Such beautiful photos. Your trinket box is so artfully arranged. Even though the items are all so different, the similar color and patina of all of items really turns the trinket box into a work of art. I LOVE it!!

I love this in all it's simplicity-!!!!
Dear Julie~
I see a sailor's box... taken from beneath his bed & given to a small girl waiting on the dock. One long last look at the sea, then he turned his heart turned homeward to the hills. And later...she, of course, added her keepsakes to his.
Hi Julie, Luv your collections in your box. With your photos makes them look even nicer. Have a great day....Julian
Every single photo is a gem! Great job Julie! I don't know how you do it!

Just wonderful pictures, and I am sure you have great stories about them...
Love the whistle and the sparkly pin! I used a similar whistle when I was a lifeguard many summers ago....and well, I love shiny bits too.....smiles.
It is beautiful, I really love it. I think I would need a very big box!
Julie, may we be internationally old and dotty together? I'll acquire a trinket box too and we can sip sherry (or purified water, if you prefer) and swop memories of the dear old blogosphere.
Ultra cool and chic... thank you for sharing this! :) mercedes
I love your trinket box Julie...your photos are as charming as ever..little mysteries for us to explore and ponder. I could not think of a better person to own a trinket box. It has your name written all over it :)

Nothing wrong with mixing the old with the new. I guess it's what we call eclectic.
To me the little things that we put together have the most impact and always what I'm drawn to in anyones home. It tells their story all in one little place. You've proven that in your gorgeous photos.
Hope your enjoying decorating your new home!

Your newest follower thinks your photos are so telling of who you must be. You have the ability to capture the essence of the subject.
Julie--An excellent idea & it looks marvellous. Once one gets that many smallish things, I thing they really do need to be grouped together. The box is a good idea & I think I'll do the same (well, I need a few but will start with one). The dust in this old apt. is so annoying & I have to move so many things (it should be done every day, that's how bad it is) to dust. I think a few boxes, strategically placed & if done as artfully as yours will help hugely. My mother had two end tables with glass on top, I'm sure you know the kind. Really nice...& she would change the "installations" once or twice a year, just to make sure one still "saw" everything. Thing is, she's not keen on letting me have them yet:)
xoxoxo
Susan (& from the Other Julie, too:)
Lovely treasures here Julie, beautifully curated & photographed in your inimitable style!
Millie ^_^

Love your Trinket Box - you are a girl after my own heart - as you know this is what I do, preserve peoples memories (www.timeframed.blogspot.com). I think it is so important to preserve your memories, it instantly transports you back or gives an instant insight to other generations of the life you had. I love the way you 'age' your pictures. They look so beautiful.
