IF IT’S TUESDAY: This Must Be 'Down By The Bay'

This photo was taken on the shores of Botany Bay on a Tuesday evening.

The Tuesday before the first Big Red actually. A huge electrical storm was playing out it’s fury. Planes were scurrying by seemingly unawares, and I was standing in the rain trying to capture it all.

I didn’t catch the lightning, but I did meet some travellers from Belgium. How lucky for me. Our little bayside beach is not the usual place to meet travellers, in a storm, in the evening. Our conversation lightened my spirits and allowed me to see ‘My Bay’ through their travelling eyes. I went home feeling uplifted as only travel and a good storm can provide!! That fresh new feeling lasted all the way into the morning when Big Red came to town. boo hoo.. I wonder what those poor travellers thought of it all!

Julie, Oh yes, I did enjoy. Your, what you call "simple posts", are still over the moon. What lovely photography & a great story. I know so little about Australia & love learning through your eyes. Wish I had been there, I'd love to know what Big Red is like. I like a good storm, well most the time! Great post Julie Xx

Beautiful pictures Julie, I love it when you do the "same image/different shades of colour" thing....you do it so well! Such tranquility here.....

I loved your post below too....tried to comment earlier but my pc wouldn't let me. Very well done on your awards.....and I loved finding out even more about you!

I really laughed at the photo where you had drawn on the glasses and then your comment about karma....very funny! And I just love how you wanted to be Ginger Rogers....lovely :)

Take care,
Simone xo

Beautiful pictures, Julie! I give you credit for stsnding outside during the storm...I am deathly afraid of them and even the skies in your photos give me goosebumps.

I know the feeling of meeting someone from far away...hard to describe, maybe a feeling of wanderlust...

Enjoy your week, Ruby! :-)

I love the intensity of the blue and you know, late afternoon and twilight is my most favorite time of day.

To us in Ireland, Botany Bay is an emigrant destination of ballad fame. I'm glad to be able to enhance my mind's image of it with your beautiful photo (the blue one is the one I'm choosing for my mental imprint).

One photo or not, you weave a magical post, Julie. Your way with words and your stunning photos are swoon worthy. Blue, Sepia, Black and white and Twilight just happen to be a few of my favorite things.

I am oh so glad that I found your blog!
Happy Tuesday,
xo Isa

Lovely photos, Julie. I like them both in color and in sepia, but find a little more moodiness in the sepia versions.

The one simple image is just lovely!

I also loved your comment to Kim about her moving to St Simon's Island. Too bad you can't rent her house while she is gone. It would be wonderful to have you a half a block away!

I love the blueness of the second image Julie.

It's been many, many years since I have been on the shores of Botany Bay ... I love and miss those electrical storms Sydney produces!

Have a 'not too busy' week.

A desolate Botany Bay, Julie. Everyone must have known that 'Big Red' was on her way and scurried home .... except for you and your Belgian companions.
A lovely 'in waiting' photograph....everything looks so still, just waiting.
Love it in Blue, Sepia and Black and White. XXXX

Those blues are sublime and I can imagine how it must be seeing your bay through travellers' eyes. As inspirational as always. PS - Am working on those 7 things about me...NOOOOOOT easy ;-)

I'm always amazed at how changing the color of the photo, changes the entire feeling at the same time. The blue looks current day, the others look like they were taken many years ago. It looks like a beautiful place.

These photos are beautiful, Julie. Have you ever done a post about how you developed your love for photography - apologies, if you have and I missed it. I just love visiting here, it's always such a treat and you always manage to surprise.

I loved your last post - congrats on all your awards - I loved learning more about you. Also, just wanted to say "bravo" re your comment re family on my blog. I think that some wounds will only be healed in eternity and in the meantime, we've just got to press on and make the best of it, painful as it may be. Love your honesty. Hope you're having a good week and enjoying the magnificent Sydney weather. Meredy xo.
