Paris: Seeing The Light/s [Hotel Regina]

Things have been a little slow here at Studio Ruby.. I've been afflicted with a nasty bug so haven't had the will or energy to put together another post.  So here's one I prepared earlier.. Shots of the Hotel Regina in Paris.. Taken sneakily from the window.. But then I got some gumption and asked to take shots inside .. They kindly gave me permission.. How nice!!

The reflections on the window shots were at first annoying but then realised as a bit of serendipity.. Not having photoshop on the road meant no creative layering of images... But these first couple of window shots gave me an idea which I attempted to harness during my trip.. To varying degrees of success and amusement which you'll see in my Italy and Spain shots.. [if I ever get to them.. still stuck on Paris]

... So about these colours...

Remind You of Something?

Oh Yes ... The ceiling in the Hall of Mirrors
A little decor inspiration right down to the blue in the lamp base

Have A Lovely Week Everyone

Go Julie- kick that bug away!
Spring is here... well, I mean there.
Maybe you can at least take a nap outside?

Anyone who can take photos like those with their IPad amazes me. Your talent and outlook are things of beauty! Maybe you can figure out how to offer us an online course in photo creativity?

Lovely shots. Love the draperies in that first shot and the wonderful shape of the chairs.

You have such a gift for making everything look so theatrical and elegant.

Hope you feel better soon!

What sumptuous colours: strawberries and cream with a bit of chocolate, and a stray blueberry or two. Yummy!

Julie, what I love about your shots of Hotel Regina is that you've captured something that for me is so Parisian: the particularly warm glow of Parisian hotel lampshades, which so often seem to be in reds, lilacs and purples and golds. Very atmospheric indeed!
All the best,
Michael
