To The Moon Alice: May 2010

Time again for the full moon. This month she comes to you direct from Rome accompanied by my Angel from Ponte Sant'Angelo... As I have no camera at present, she kindly offered to showcase this month's moon post .. with a slightly theatrical touch!

She also fits in quite nicely with a little project I've been working on this week. A friend asked me if I had some iconic images of Rome.. A search of my travel photos turned up a few of the usual subjects, unfortunately they were all quite boring. So I spiced them up with a little photoshop makeover. Always overly enthusiastic ... here are a few more ....

I hope you all enjoy the full moon season

There's a sort of crumbing look about these photos, which makes the depicted grandeur all the more grand. They're like the stage backdrops for an ancient story of pomp and hubris.

Ch'e' bella la luna! You know that one of my favorite words is Luna also I love Moon. I have been making charms that say Moon, I am not selling many, they ask me why Moon? I always answer I don't know I just like the word and I keep on making them! Your photos are bellissime I will be thinking of you the 28th. Ciao Rita

Beautiful, as always. I don't usually like shots that are noticeably processed, and yet yours are consistently so appealing to me. They are fine art at its finest!

I am running out of different ways to gush over your posts..( such a problem)

I love them all, and each time I select a new favorite. This time I refuse to select, they're all just too wonderful.

Cannot wait for the moon in June.

As usual, you see the city as I do. Flower moon indeed...I encouraged a friend to plant some moonflowers interspersed with morning glory to go up a tuteur...it's going to look gorgeous. Which has nothing to do with Roma, I realize, but ahhh.

I love them all but that first one really got me. And as I saw your thumbnail, I started to sing to Giulia, "when the moon.." We had to learn it in Italian class for some little event...the older Italians loved hearing us sing it translated into Italian. Fun, fun, fun. It's driving me nuts that I don't have a camera...there's a festa up at the Italian Cultural Center where I take lessons (not at moment though)....will try to find some links for you in email.

xoxoxo from your pals in DC!

Stunning pictures!!!

Love that song..., when the moon hits your eye..., while on a yoga retreat we would sing it and replace amore with samadhi (= enligtenment -haha).

And this year it is also known as the Buddha moon - the Christ moon is to be next month. All a question of energy as it was explained to me earlier today... Wondered why I had been feeling like flowers and femininity. Your photos quite simply blow me away ....whhhhoooooeeeoooooooooow

Hello lovely Julie/Ruby, What are you doing to me?? A new wonderful song to have going around my half empty noggin....last night when I was out and about I spied this beautiful moon I of course actually thought of you and cried out the words La Luna Bella...son no 2 thought I was nuts...but hey whats new haha... I said to him wouldn't it be wonderful if the sky was full of more than one moon to gaze upon? I then got a lecture on tides and currents and gravitational pulls....have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this lovely moon...we may have a state between us but we 'share the same moon',( stolen romantic thought from movie Green card,) xx Katherine

Okay, I'll admit, I might be ever so slightly sleep deprived at present having just returned from Bugsy's hospital stay.....but your images always make me tear up with their sheer beauty. Please speak to a publisher Julie and have them immortalised in a book that I can pick up and lose myself in whenever I choose? Never one to be quiet about my enthusiasms, I can guarantee you will already have dozens of copies sold as I would stockpile them to give as presents to those I love. Meredy xo.
p.s. seriously, stop hiding that light under a bushel! I'll stop bossing now. Until next time:)

A bit of peace and beauty...just what I need. Just thought I'd let you know that I have survived the rituals. My mom's funeral was Tuesday and for something so awful, it was perfect. One of my dearest friends is a minister and she did the service, the flowers were tropicals...and gorgeous and I had friends from where I live now, where I used to live and even my high school best friend/college roommate all in one room at the same time. It was (and is) extremely sad...but, my mother would have loved everything. Thank you for all of your support and sweet words.

It shines bright and clear in my face and illuminates me and my husband...its so magical. Last night I said “Hullo Flower Moon” Hello Milk Moon” and all because of you. Thank you so much for your visit and comment... It makes me carry on with “my story”...
