Mothers Day: A Fractured Fable

.
What better tribute to motherhood can a young girl give ... then dreaming of growing up to be 'just like their mamma'
.
.

A YOUNG GIRL'S DREAM

a family album

Practice and training in the fine art of motherhood starts early

Young girls pay careful attention and give kind words of encouragement to dolly

They dream of that special day and someday being a bride

And then they reach the age where their dreams turn to hopes of love and finding that special beau

Someone to love and carry you through the hard times

To sweep you off your feet and promise to whisk you away to greener pastures

And one day those dreams come true!

They buy a little home in a nice new estate

Where their dreams of having babies can become a reality

PERHAPS A BOY

PERHAPS A GIRL (???)

There may be hard times, when they will struggle and worry for their future

They may need to turn to the in-laws for advice

It is then they will take comfort in the extended family and the wisdom and customs that have passed down through the generations

Knowing at the end of the day... when the children are grown...

there will be time to reflect and enjoy life's rewards

...

~ THE END ~

well- the images remind me of the photos of my nan...she was SO beautiful as a teenager and young lady...then suddenly the photos of her were really "sour".....after she got married etc etc.....

Long story but she did it so hard.......

Hi Julie, great post for Mother's day! I love those images, especially the first one, my Mum has one very similar from her childhood, and it has always been a favourite.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I absolutely love the combination of sentiment and humor in this post done Being Ruby-style! You brought me humor and memories this morning, dear Julie.

Now you know how I love vintage photos, so I've already bookmarked Square America, I didn't want to do housework today anyway, lol.

Oh, green tomatoes are just regular tomatoes before they've fully ripened. Tomatoes will continue to ripen off the vine, just pick them while they're green and leave them on the counter. When I go to the family farm, I pick them at various stages and end up with tomatoes for a month!

Julie,
I've never seen these pictures before (except for that famous one of the woman with children...in-laws). Fun story, looks like pictures from my father's scrapbook in the 40s.
Have a wonderful weekend and let us know about your birthday next week!
xx Becky
