FREEDOM - Wind In My Sails

.

.
.
FREEDOM
..

..
Serendipity found me today arriving at the bay just as a flotilla of sailboats passed by. I stopped to watch these beautiful creatures hopscotch the bay, cloths billowing as they inhaled the sweet afternoon breeze

.
.

..
..
..
THIS was my FREEDOM today!
..
Somehow these beauties lifted my spirits and gave me a sense of personal FREEDOM. Beauty often does that. It changes the perspective, it glimmers with hope and possibilities. It whispers to you quietly MAYBE !
..
..
MAYBE is a good word!
..
A liberating word! A word to consider. To Plan. To Dream. MAYBE isn't as scary as I CAN or I WILL. Being less definite it leaves room for permutations, escalations and renovations of ones DREAMS. It allows flexibility and choice!
..
..
MAYBE
..
Can spell FREEDOM
..
.
I have a flotilla of these photos to share from today's excursion, but for today
My wish for each one of you this weekend, is to find your personal FREEDOM
or MAYBE just to DREAM a little

Julie, its lovely when something really captures your attention and lifts your spirits!
Yes ... and I am dreaming for some sunshine this weekend (we did have some today)!

Btw ... love the photo from your last post ... where the river meets the sea.
Enjoy your weekend and ... dont worry, you still have a few months of summer left ... Sydney summers linger until April-May ... dont they?

Beautiful, Ruby. And even though I've never sailed or even want to, watching these boats glide with the wind feels true (and free), sort of a metaphor of life.

Happy weekend!

Julie, dear, I wish I had your gift of expressing such dreamy thoughts. What an inspiration you are!

I love that expression: hopscotch the bay. And I like the word: MAYBE too. It's a good word to enter the weekend with. Maybe I'll sleep in tomorrow. Oh wait, no I can't, it's my daughter's 4th birthday and 20 kids and their parents are coming for pizza and cake, which means I have to clean. Oh well... MAYBE next weekend...
Hope your weekend is at least half as lovely as you are, Julie.

I am always most hopeful and happy near the water. No matter what is going on in my life, if I can watch the boats, hear the sounds of the water as it hits the shore and the bird sounds...I'm am more relaxed and just in a better place in my heart and head. I love these photos.

Dreamy images of Summer! I've always wanted to sail... funny that I live by the water but have never gone sailing.
Seeing these pictures is just as good!!!

My new favorite word....MAYBE!!! well I could say that's George's favorite word...he does use that one alot.....mostly to mean no! haha
but I like your definition better...much more hopeful!
Makes me long for summer!

Poor old MOTH would love to hear this Julie. He's stuck up a big ladder in the hot, hot bathroom laying a course of bricks he didn't think he'd have to do. Not happy & very unfree.

I'm the original landlubber and I can't believe I'm going to say this, but your photo is so beautiful it's enough to tempt even me onto the water. The 10,000 dreaded agapanthus have been cut, I've had a cool shower and I've just finished my first glass of something very delicious! I hope you're having a lovely weekend too. Leigh

yes thanks Julie. I spent the day auctioning homes on the water at Pittwater. Same sense of freedom to watch the boats, there as well.

Frankly its an auctioneers nightmare..it makes the bidders too relaxed. haha!

I do need a BIG shot of maybe.... :o)

Julie, your photos are beautiful! Magazine material without question and your phrases:
'flotilla of sailboats'
'hopscotch the bay'
'cloths billowing as they inhaled the soft afternoon breeze'
Wonderful!
BOOK PLEASE!!!
I think a collection of your images and little slices of life are the makings of a wonderful book. If anything, have a photo book made and you will see what I mean!
Have a good one....
Jeanne :)

Julie - magical photos - just beautiful...
As much as I love looking out at English countryside from my windows, how I miss the water! I agree with Jeanne - a collection of your images with vignettes of your lovely prose would make a lovely publication. Enjoy your weekend ..Susie x

Dear Julie,
What a beautiful, serene scene. My husband is a great sailor and, I have been known, on occasion, to take to the water. It is such an experience of freedom. Maybe, just maybe, I will give it another go !
Fabulous photograph. Was it taken very late afternoon ? I love the light at that time of day. It has such a special glow, doesn't it ?

Well, this post just lifted my spirits today! Buried in boxes as I am, I need to remember that it will soon be over, the sun will come out again and I can get back to the beach to watch the sailboats, the children at play and the waves lapping the shore. Thanks dear friend, for bringing me the freedom to dream today.

Happy weekend, Julie!

Those maybe-dreams can become a definite reality! I dreamed of living in the Colorado mountains as a little girl of 9, and now here I am!

Just shove maybe out of the way by taking small steps into your dream! :)

Hugs,
Zuzu

Maybe you are soooo right! A weekend to myself just to dream as well... Won't be watching the sails in the bay - but the clouds will be my boats as they hopscotch across the sky. Right you are Julie - there is a whiff of hope and freedom in the air... Haven't seen Invictus have you ? ;-)

I always loved it when my parents answered one of my requests with a "maybe". That answer allowed me to dream.

Oh JulieRuby, one of my all time favourite sounds in the world is the slapping of rigging against a yacht's mast. My Dad used to have a boat moored down on Pittwater and sailed every weekend (my poor mother!), and he'd often take us with him. In fact, Mum remembers him tying the leash of my baby harness to the handrail of the boat when I was 18 mths old. Something along the lines of "Well, she can't fall overboard now can she?".

To this day, there is just something that water, wind and sea air does to open up your soul and give it a good airing, filling it with possibilities....those wonderful "maybe" dreams. These photos capture it beautifully Juulie. Bravo! Meredy xo.

It keeps me going...day after day..

I love your images, there is something amazing about watching these yachts float by and hearing their sails in the wind.

Have a wonderful week and thanks for your great comment from my last post.
