Montmartre: Carousels & Accordions

Montmartre

Carousels . Accordions &
La Vie En Rose

IF la Vie En Rose is playing in your head right now .. then that's a good thing!! As that's what I'm listening to on one of those little wind up music boxes I brought home from Paris. And  that's what I'm hearing when I think of Montmartre... If you can find the quiet amongst the crowds, then you'll also find the magic. The story book Montmartre where the imagined is more tangible than the reality..

Lucky for me I found some quiet moments as I strolled along the alleyways.. recovering from my climb to the top of Sacre Coeur [see here].  Relax with a cafe creme.. or perhaps a gelati.. as you watch the carousel delight the children and the child within.. whilst listening to the bittersweet tones of a piano accordion somewhere in the distance.

I'm in a green mood as we are finally having the perfect spring day!! Now that it is actually summer!! .. Spring saw the weather in Sydney fluctuate between 38c heat waves and cold damp days of 18c... Mix in a bit of torrential rain and that's what we've been experiencing.. They predict we are in for a hot and steamy summer... For now I'll just enjoy this perfect spring like weather and hope it continues this way for a bit.

Have A Great Weekend

And a big thanks to all who visit and comment!!
Each and everyone appreciated!!

Enjoy your summer. Has turned cold at my house - 40F, and rain for our drought stricken area. Welcome, as we are supposed to pretend we have snow and cold for Christmas. (I prefer the warmth to the years I spent in the snow.)

Enjoyed the visit to Paris. Always love a visit there.

I know how crazyis this weather. In Hobart we are having winter still! snow on the first day of summer on the Mountain. If I could be bothered chopping wood I would have a wood fire on the third day of summer!!!! lol xox

Always a pleasure to see Montmartre. I especially like when you show a photo of someone on the street, so I love the shots of the accordionist. Do you have more of people-on-the-street?

Oh,Julie!!!Julie! Julie,
My favorit spot. Glad I went 3 times in my life. I could never climb the steps now. I loved every minute there. Had escargot there
with an Arstis I met. He intoduced me to 4 others at the cafe, they live a few blocks away and meet most nights in the cafe. What a life, wish I had moved there.
We are 3 weeks away from Christmas, getting my tree up tonight. I have a girl that helps me bring her boyfriend over after her work. It's a big tree wrapped in netting in a bucket of water for
Big hug Sweetie.
You take the best photo's

Julie-
Do you have a piece of luggage large enough to contain me on some of these trips?! Amazing images, Miss!
I love the green door.
We are enjoying 6o degree weather here. Just thought I would run that by you, friend. I am ready for 20 degree.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I so love Paris and especially Montmartre where so many famous arists have lived and which is still brimming with art and romance and la vie boheme. Greetings from winterland!

Oh Julie - visiting your blog is always a holiday in itself. I feel always transported to a beautiful place and good thoughts. Your trip to Paris had to have been one for the memory books.Your summer sounds so wonderful too right about now. I"m having trouble adjusting to the cold after being 'too' hot for 5 years. Santa needs to bring me some flannels no doubt. Sending you my best Julie for a happy holiday season.

Hi Julie, it's me again. I have been singing La Vie en Rose for the past day. Can't get the music out of my head. And you're right - it is a good thing. The only downside is I'm not in Montmartre...so I'm back visiting your wonderful photos and dreaming away.

Montmartre calls to me, and your photos are fabulous. I was at the foot of Sacré Coeur in November just to photograph the carrousel. I love that approach to the cathedral. It was cool with a bit of mist, perfect for shooting.
