Sea & Roses

Arrivederci Rosa

Well summer's almost at and end here in Sydney... the day's are becoming cooler, the air has that crisp edge and the sun has shifted to the north..  signaling the change of season and casting deeper shadows across my path. Already I find myself chasing the daylight to take shots, of what I suspect will be the last roses of the season.. Just a few pink blooms and a little fun with photoshop.. creating different moods and hues from the same batch.. This way I can trick myself into thinking there are more.. that the abundance of summer is still with me.. and the scarcity of winter is only a passing thought.

Summer's last hooray has me craving full bodied colours. The vibrant pinks of the rose and the deep moody blues of the sea  .. Happy partners in my make believe season, a celebration of summers gifts.

Have a lovely week everyone
And enjoy the fruits of the season... whether that be the last of summer here in the south of the planet..
... or the celebration of spring for our northern neighbours ...

A place to celebrate the good things in life

Lovely, as always. I wish spring would finally make an appearance here. Chilly chilly days!

I always find it startling when you remind me that we are at opposite ends of the seasons. Yesterday began our weeks in the 70's and 80's. Spring may zoom by us and throw summer right into our face.

As your roses fade, mine are bursting forth.. Bottom line..we all must face change, no matter the form. :D

We have roses that grow wild along the sea shore.
They are ragosa roses in white and pink. Your rose is beautiful, are they wild? You looking at fall and me Spring, half way around the world. Isn't it amazing we can contact like this.

Hello beautiful Julie! I could get lost in your photos on a daily basis. These are stunning! One of the things that I love about winter here is how deep blue the lake is and I love driving out to the beach every morning and see all the different blues. I think of it as the different moods of the lake. :)
The roses are beautiful and I can't wait to smell their sweet scent soon.
Have a beautiful week my friend.
XO

I know it is sad for you to see summer leave but I am looking forward to seeing more of your seasons...it is all so different from here. Spring is three weeks late here and we are all bushed and half crazy.... Your roses and sea relax me....enjoy the crispness....Do you actually get a frost? Cheers! susan

Hi Ruby,

The second photo of your roses made me want to reach out and bring them into my own home! I also live by the sea and thought your photo of the water was beautiful!

Julie, you really capture my senses. I love how we all have a different vision and perspective. We can all see a rose, but it will have different dimensions to it, depending on our proximity to the rose...what a lovely thought my dear. Ciao, Anita

aaah, sea n' roses, two of my favorite things. I grew up near the bay, where the heaven kisses the sea and hugs the shore. There were these amazing roses that grew in bushes, as you turned the corner to the shore. A mix of pine needles, salty sea air and those roses. I am not home till I smell these heady mix and my feet hit the wharf! Lovely reminder...Thank YOU! xXx
