Interview With A Turkey

[Being Ruby is proud to present a world first]

[Interviewer] .. Good Evening Mr Turkey ..

[Mr Turkey] .. Please.. Call me Walt.. I'm not one to stand on ceremony..

[Interviewer] .. Thanks Walt.. Well we're here today as Being Ruby has been tagged by the delightful Stephanie of the beautiful blog 'La Dolce Vita' ... Due to unforeseen circumstances.. Julie [author of the world renowned Being Ruby Blogspot] cannot be with us today.. However, we are proud and excited that you Walt could fill in for us.. In fact I'd go as far to say.. It really is a coup and I'm sure Julie's readers will be as thrilled as I am [am I blushing?] to be part of this world first... 'An Interview With A Turkey'... So shall we begin? ....

[Walt] .. Let it rip...

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

INTERVIEW WITH A TURKEY

1. If you have pets, do you see them merely as animals or are they members of the family?

[Walt] .. Are you joking? Are you trying to say animals are not family members?

2. If you can have a dream come true, what would it be?

[Walt] .. To be the first Turkey in outer space

3. What is one thing most hated by you?

[Walt] .. Barbeques

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?

[Walt] .. Money isn't everything.. Have you ever seen a Turkey with a wallet? [WITH a wallet.. NOT as a wallet]

5. What helps to pull you out of a bad mood?

[Walt] .. Chasing the tourists.. so much fun... scares the heck out of them.. and they call us stupid.

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?

[Walt] .. Depends on your definition of 'being loved'... I've heard a lot of humans 'love' Turkey.. I certainly don't want to be 'loved' in that manner... If only they could see my true beauty the years of abuse and carnage would be a thing of the past.. Humans and Turkeys would co-exist peacefully and the world would be better for it.

7. What is your bedtime routine?

[Walt] .. I like to scratch around a bit.. dig a bit of a hole in the dirt to accommodate my rear end [can I say that on here?]... Sometimes there's a bit of a ruckus if another male turkey wanders over and tries to hone in on my territory... We've been known to go at it a while.. but I always win.. Although I once lost a tail feather but you should've seen the other guy... Turkey's still talk about it to this day.. I have a bit of a reputation now as a bad guy.. so.. all in all it's usually a quiet night.. Just a bit of clucking and scratching.. and then things are quiet on the homefront.

8. If you are currently in a relationship, how did you meet your partner?

[Walt] .. Oh.. this is a good story.. I was out scratching around for worms one day when I saw this vision of beauty.. this bird had the longest neck.. bright yellow and red.. it was a thing of beauty. She also had the best speckled feathered undercarriage I've ever seen.. gives me goosebumps thinking of it.. Sadly though her neck has gone south... all that gorgeous yellow is now layers and layers of loose flesh.. wrinkled and folded beyond recognition.. I'd be surprised if there even was a neck in there now.. but in her day... that Turkey was a prize!!

9. If you could watch a creative person in the act of the creative process, who would it be?

[Walt] .. NOT Jamie Oliver.. NOR Louise Hay.. NOR Nigella Lawson.. I've heard rumours about just what they do with Turkeys.. Enough to make my eyes water..

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

10. What kind of books do you read?

[Walt] .. Read? Turkey's can't read.. but sometimes I like to listen to the tourist tell tall tales... Does that count?

11. What's your fear?

[Walt] .. Barbeques

12. Would you give up all junk food for the rest of life for the opportunity to visit outer space?

[Walt] .. Certainly.. It is my lifelong ambition to be the first Turkey in outer space.. I'm not supposed to talk about this .. but I have it on good authority NASA has been working on the protocol to make this happen. There'll be a worldwide search for the applicant.. When this happens I hope all of you reading this will vote for me... It's one of the reasons I agreed to this interview.. any social media will increase my chances .. right?

13. Would you rather be single and rich or married and poor?

[Walt] .. See question 4

14. What's the first thing you do when you wake up?

[Walt] .. Shake my tail feathers.. They get a bit crumpled during sleep and well.. I want to look my best when I'm out and about..

15. If you could change one thing about your spouse/partner what would it be?

[Walt] .. See question 8.

16. If you could pick a new name for yourself what would it be?

[Walt] .. Peacock.. The name Turkey has such bad associations ... like stupidity and loutish behaviour. Really I don't know how we got such a bad rep.. Have you ever seen a stupid or loutish Turkey? [can I change my answer to question 5?]

17. Would you forgive and forget no matter how horrible a thing that special someone has done?

[Walt] .. Never.. Turkey's never forget.. They say elephants have a long memory.. but it's little known fact that a Turkey has the best memory of all the animal world.. Sorry.. what was the question again?

18. If you could only eat one thing in the next six months what would it be?

[Walt] .. Worms... My favourite.. there's nothing better than a big juicy worm to end the day. Actually.. can I change that to ice cream?

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

[Interviewer] .. Well that concludes our questions for this evening.. Thank you Walt for participating.. it's been an honour to meet you.. ..

[Walt] .. Yeah.. no problem Doll Face.. I've gotta run.. I see a bus load of tourists pulling in..

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

[Interviewer] .. And he's off ...

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Ha ha...and I thought the title was funny. That was excellent. I want a whole series or atleast a weekly spot. I love how he can't read but he can have an interview...very funny. I have a friend whose son is animal mad. They are one of those families that have 3 dogs, fish, snakes, chickens ducks,a huge pig called Tammy that thinks she is a dog crossed with a person and a McCaw Parrot...amazing. And what is the purpose of my ramblings? well they also have a peacock called Drew...ie Drew Peacock...say it fast...I know, its dreadful, but funny. She has 5 boys so its not surprising. hope you are having a fun day, xx Katherine

Gobble Gobble.... You are such a silly goose... notice I did not say the T word, which I usually select in these circumstances but I will behave.... probably much more so than Walt.

Classic!

We are Noosans and this afternoon after taking the girls for an after-school ice-cream and swim we were driving home and literally had to stop twice for turkeys lolling their way across the road.

I don't think it was Walt, he doesn't come across as being THAT arrogant.

Seriously, they really do own the place and are more than a pest for locals but seem to capture the hearts and minds of the tourists.

You've given me a new insight by introducing me to Walt, perhaps next time I find one fossicking in my beach bag I'll ask its name and all will be well.

I met a cousin of yours down in Mexico....He was just poking around .....unfortuately many Yucatan special recipes call for a bit of turkey so I think he might have been laying low....That neck thing is one of my biggest worries too......

OMG, this is too funny and the pictures of a turkey on the beach? I've seen cows and horses on a beach, but never a turkey. Good thing I wasn't there, because I do love barbecues!
