:To The Moon Alice: June 2010 [Eclipse]

Expect the unexpected
Under the influence of a partial eclipse!

For it was the unexpected that found me last night. After driving all over the southern beach suburbs of Sydney trying to capture La Bella Luna ... I made my way back home and stopped by the bay for one last attempt ... and ... happened to be kissed by a stranger!!! Yes Sir!. Well actually not a Sir.. but an elderly lady.. She and her friend had been taking in the beauty of an afternoon by the bay and had managed to lose their husbands...

It was quite dark by then and a damp chill was settling in.. So doing what most people might do.. I offered to drive them around the water front to see if we could find both their husbands, and their car. By the time I unloaded the packing boxes out of the back seat .. those naughty escapee husbands materialized ... I greeted the ladies goodbye, happy that all had ended well.. but before we parted, I was given the gift of gratitude.. A hug and a kiss by an elderly lady I had only just met... and these parting words ..

... 'What a beautiful country ... What a wonderful world' ...
Sweet Yes!!!

I think she was overwhelmed with relief to have found her husband.. and surprised at the generosity of a stranger.. In reality it was such a small offer of help, but it brought a world of happiness to a tourist .. And a moon chaser!

.. La Bella Luna did herself proud last night..
The old showgirl was back.. kicking up her heels and playing costume changes in the earth's shadow,
then casting her night light upon us all..
Thank You La Bella Luna

The Full Moon shots were taken in various locations during my Moon Chase..
The Eclipse shots were taken the standard Ruby way.. hanging off the side of the balcony..
I wonder what will happen next month in the villa!! The roof ???..

Your moon chases are wonderful Julie...I love your names..Honey Moon, Flower Moon, Strawberry Moon and Ruby Moon. I think Julie Moon has a nice ring to it too! I don't know what it is about Australia...but there is nothing like a full moon over Sydney..the best ever in my books!

Photos are all so so wonderful Julie Moon....

I don't know why each time I try to select a favorite, but I do. This time it is impossible.

I have scrolled up and down, down and up....and there is no one favorite, not one Bella Luna that shines above the rest for me, they all shine so beautifully.

I cannot imagine you are a stranger to anyone you meet; for anyone you meet would call you friend.

and yes it is 3:42 am..... sleeplessness continues..perhaps it's the moon alice?

Yes, that's why we love you! You are incredibly kind, generous, and sweet and I'd expect nothing less of you than to comfort those moon ladies with your offer of help.

However do you manage to take and make these GORGEOUS moon shots? It boggles the mind! Thanks for sending us the Strawberry moon version...I will think of your moon shots when I look at the moon tonight and WISH upon it...that I could capture a moon image of my own with my limited little camera :)

"playing costume changes in the earths shadow, then casting her night light upon us." PURE POETRY!! i had forgotten it was full moon time...no wonder i feel like howling.
hope the packing is going smoothly,

Lovely, as always. I didn't know there was to be anything heavenly happening. Was lying on my back with the curtains completely pulled down so that I could see the lovely moon from while lying down (big windows, they are). And then, what's this? An eclipse? So there you are...just when you think nothing exciting is happening...ta da.

And of course, you rescue tourists. So do I (here on the other side of the world). I would expect nothing less of you, Miss Julie. I figure that I've been rescued and/or helped so many times around the world, that it's my duty. It nearly always ends up being so much more than just that. I've friends I made (for many years now) while on rescue missions. Just think, they're telling everyone they know about this lovely Australian woman who helped them. And then those people will tell their friends & family, & so on. xoxoxo to you.

I always knew what a kind person you are, Julie, and I cleaned my screen especially to see these images at their very best, so you are not only kind but a catalyst for clean screens in Western Europe. Where to possibly go from there?

I MISSED the ECLIPSE??? Bugger - I spent ages watching that lovely Ruby moon and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of you hanging off your balcony in her reflection. I must've been watching when you were getting the packing boxes out of the back seat of the car.
Julie - that elderly lady stated what we all know about you - you are such a treasure!!
Now I'm off to check out your friend's blog! Anyone who inspires change is worth supporting in my books ;-)

so first I have wanted to go to Australia since I was in 3rd grade,, then when I was a student teacher my cooperating teacher went and came back with amazing pictures and then when I was teaching Kindergarten I had a pen pal with another class in Australia... and I still really really want to go... So now I love ella's edges and I talk to her almost daily via email.. and she nominated you for an award and so I came to check you out.. to find out you took pictures of LUNA and I have been trying all week... I did not use a tripod... so that was my first mistake... NOW please give me some tips... LOL I love what you captured...
